People in Interest of M.W., 22 COA 72

In this case, the Court of Appeals held that a parent may appeal the content of the initial dispositional order, including the provisions of the treatment plan, simultaneously with an appeal of an adjudication order. The Court of Appeals also held that a juvenile court may not require a parent to complete a Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) evaluation and treatment if the parent objects and has not been convicted of a sex offense, although the court may order the parent to participate in an evaluation and obtain treatment or counseling for sexual behavior that poses a risk to the parent’s children.
