Purpose: To assist GALs in the development of case strategy and effective advocacy by offering a multidisciplinary perspective on case-related issues. The sessions will utilize an OCR staff attorney and a licensed mental health professional to provide guidance on topics related to mental health, treatment, assessment, social services, etc.
Format: Case Strategy Sessions are structured around questions submitted in advance (see above), with the facilitators and participants engaging in active discussion, brain-storming, and sharing of experiences as related to the issues presented.
Participation: If you have a question or topic you would like to see addressed in the meeting, please briefly answer the questions in the submission form. Please keep your questions as general as possible, as we would like to address your question in a way that will help all GALs who may be facing the same or similar issue.
Don’t have a specific question or topic to submit? Join the meeting anyway! You don’t have to submit a question in advance to participate, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions during the session.
Examples of topics include: Identifying mental health issues; Identifying appropriate resources or treatment options; Access to resources, services; Safety planning; Assessing treatment plans etc.
