TBRI® in the Courts This training will be an overview of Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Principles and how they relate to building relationships within the court room. The Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) created this training for judges, attorneys, court staff, social workers, child and family services staff, CASA’s and Juvenile justice to come together and collectively learn about trauma’s impact and the role it has in many of the cases in court.
TBRI® was developed at Texas Christian University at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross to address the effects of early adversity and relational trauma. TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed, holistic approach to meeting the needs of people who have experienced early adversity, toxic stress, or relational trauma. TBRI® is based on the idea that effective interventions must focus on the whole child/person—behaviors, emotions, thoughts, relationships, ecology and physiology. We will learn how trauma affects the brain and how to rebuild relationships through connection and felt safety.
This workshop was only offered for live attendance.
