This training will review the revised CJD 04-06, which includes practice standards and guidance for client-direct representation. Updates also include: guidance on determining conflicts and the need for a GAL due to diminished capacity, articulation of the attorney’s responsibility to recognize and mitigate bias in representation, elaboration on advocacy requirements, clarification on the responsibility to interview parents, and an update to the court’s appointment authority in D&N and adoption proceedings.
