People in Interest of B.H., 20SC498

The Colorado Supreme Court grants certiorari to determine whether the trial court: had jurisdiction under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (“UCCJEA”) to order termination of the parent-child legal relationship, violated the father’s right to due process when it denied him counsel at the termination hearing; abused its discretion when it found the department made reasonable efforts to reunify the family despite the department’s failure to mail family finding letters and explore a reasonable number of placement options as a less drastic alternative to the termination of the father’s parental rights.
